My Pets
Ada Lovelace the Adorable
Ada was purchased from a pet store in Jacksonville on April 14, 2008. She is a beagle. I named her after the first documented computer programmer, Ada Lovelace, the daughter of Lord Byron, the great poet. Ada is my third dog since I was a child. I originally was going to get a Shiba Inu, but fell in love with Ada while at the pet store. Impulse buys!
She reminds me of a childhood basset hound named Cindy. Beagles are not known for being trainable dogs, but they are loving and loyal companions. Maybe I should take up hunting.
Linux the Intelligent
Linux is my first cat. He was born sometime in the spring of 2003, and he became my pet in the early summer. My mom’s unfixed male cat met a female cat, and of course, this resulted in kittens. My mom kept one, and I took the crazy one. He is the one that would not let you pet him and would jump of trees. He is an extremely intelligent, caring, and social cat. Yes, I named him after the operating system. He is black and white, and robust; and so is Linux and its mascot Perry the Penguin.
He is only loving when he wants to be, can play fetch with chopsticks, can get on top of anything, can open doors and cabinets, and is extremely protective of his girlfriend, Perl.
Perl the Loving

Perl is named after the scripting language - the Practical Extraction and Reporting Language. She was a rescue cat that had a form of conjungivitis when I got her, which required some treatment. I got Perl in February 2006, and was about 3-months old when I got her.
She is a loving pet, but a little challenged. Jumping from one location to another is a major feat for her. While Linux is very independent, she is very needy, and wants to be around you all the time. She often sleep on my feet at night.
Ricky the Horrible

Ricky is a blue and gold Macaw. He is not my pet, but rather the family bird. We purchased Ricky in 1986. I was 5 years old when we purchased him. Since I was very young, I used to bang on his cage as a child. Needless to say, he does not like me very much. He adores my father and my brother. He detests me.
We have had practice of trading off Ricky among the immediate family members. My sister had the bird for many years. My brother has had him for about the last 6 years. Apparently, I am up next, which is especially disturbing since he does not like me. Does anyone want to buy bird?
